As the largest independent specialty coffee retail and roasting operation in the Coachella Valley, Koffi takes its coffee seriously. There are four locations in the Greater Palm Springs area.

But it’s not just about the beans. With an in-house bakery, every sip and bite assures you’re getting the freshest and highest quality product.

Koffi is one of my favorite places for the best coffee in Palm Springs. I always try to stop by for a delicious honey vanilla iced latte every time I’m in town.

And if you like banana flavor, don’t miss the banana walnut muffin.

You can treat yourself to their delicious lattes, whether it’s coffee or chai. Their iced varieties are perfectly balanced – not too strong.

I love that they have a red velvet cake flavor you can get. Yum, yum, yum! Plus, they have a wide selection of teas, smoothies, and juices for great grab-and-go options if you’re on the run (like me)! 

The Vibe: ​​The scene at Koffi, especially the location on E. Palm Canyon, is always buzzing. Yes, there’s often a line, but trust me, it’s worth the wait!

2. 4 Paws Coffee

4 Paws Coffee Co breaks the mold of your typical boutique coffee café. It has a welcoming, unpretentious vibe that I loooove.

The coffee here is as warm as the atmosphere. The walls are adorned with cute pictures of pups!

This cozy spot for coffee in Palm Springs is a paradise for lavender lovers, offering a honey vanilla lavender latte that’s just the right amount of floral. It’s my go-to whenever I need a soothing pick-me-up. 

And for the dog owners out there, don’t forget to treat your furry friend to a “pup cup” on your visit!

Owners Lynette and Dawn make everyone feel like a regular with their friendly smiles and passion for coffee and community. Another must-try is their iced latte with dulce de leche – it’s a sweet treat that perfectly complements the desert heat.

The Vibe: A relaxed and friendly spot where the coffee is great, and the dogs are even greater. It’s always welcoming, making it the perfect stop for both locals and visitors.

3. La Jefa Cafe

For the best coffee Palm Springs has AND where you can take a cute pic, head to La Jefa Cafe. As described on their website, it’s a “Latin-influenced modern coffee house and restaurant.”

They partner with Sisters Coffee, a family-run roastery since 1989. Every cup is filled with love and a deep respect for the coffee-making tradition.

The food menu is crafted by local artisan chefs, a testament to the cafe’s commitment to quality and community. They also offer chaggaccinos here!

From the first bite, it’s clear that this isn’t your average coffee shop fare.

The outdoor patio is the crown jewel of La Jefa, offering one of the best al fresco dining experiences in Palm Springs. 

The Vibe: Chic, sustainable, and utterly inviting. La Jefa Cafe is a space where coffee culture thrives, creating a unique spot that’s both trendy and timeless.

Wifi: Free! La Jefa Cafe calls itself an “internet cafe.”

4. Cartel Coffee Lab

Cartel Coffee Lab is a standout in the Palm Springs coffee scene, located in the trendy Arrive Hotel. 

This is a great spot if you’re craving a craft coffee drink that you won’t find anywhere else in the desert. 

Born from a decade of passion for sourcing and roasting some of the world’s most exciting coffees, Cartel brings a philosophy that’s all about letting great coffee shine on its own. At Cartel, they celebrate the rich, natural flavors of coffee and cut back on sugary syrups. 

I always love visiting Cartel Coffee because Arrive is so photogenic. The unique architecture—a blend of industrial and Hollywood glam—will have you taking inspiring pics, nonstop. 

When you visit, ask for their daily Black Market Blend Forty-Eight drip or indulge in their homemade cold brew. 

If your sweet tooth is calling, the CCL is a must-try: a concoction of Nami vegan caramel, coconut almond cream, and cold brew concentrate, all shaken and topped with a sprinkle of Maldon salt.

The Vibe: Cartel Coffee Lab is where industrial chic meets coffee aficionado. It’s a place that welcomes anyone looking for a coffee experience that’s as authentic as it is innovative.

5. Ernest Coffee

Ernest Coffee stands out as Palm Springs’ only independent coffee shop pouring Stumptown brews. For aficionados of the famed Portland roaster, Ernest is a haven where the coffee culture is as rich as the brew itself.

There’s also a wide selection of scrumptious baked goods perfect for pairing with your favorite cup. Always my favorite!!

The south-facing patio is an idyllic spot for those looking to soak up the sun while enjoying their caffeine fix.

Fun fact – the coffee shop’s name pays homage to Ernest Raymond Beaumont Gantt, or “Don the Beachcomber,” who pioneered a tiki-inspired restaurant on this very site in the 1950s.

There are even​​ tiki torches that still grace the property! Such a great Palm Springs coffee shop.

Pssst, local tip: if you stay late enough, you can get free refills of hibiscus tea.

The Vibe: Ernest Coffee is where history meets modern coffee culture.

6. IW Coffee & Chai Bar

IW Coffee & Chai Bar is a caffeine lover’s dream! This one is in Palm Desert, just a few miles outside of Palm Springs. 

This buzzy hangout is known for its house-roasted coffee beans, sourced exclusively from the women-led coffee brand Café Feminino, and its impressive selection of seven varieties of chai tea.

The inviting slogan, “Come for the coffee, stay for the view,” perfectly captures the scene here. 

They serve coffee by Joshua Tree Coffee Co, so if you’re looking for a local brew, head here.

From my personal experience, walking here from my nearby apartment was always a highlight of my day. The coffee, with its delicious and interesting flavor combinations, never disappoints, and their chai is simply out of this world. 

It’s no wonder this place is always bustling with happy patrons. They also offer organic coffee, fresh pastries, and matcha. 

A must-try for both coffee and tea lovers is the Elephant Vanilla, a creamy concoction of black tea, spices, and vanilla that’s absolutely divine. 

And for those who like a bit of spice, the White Shark, with its unique blend of white tea spices and black pepper, is my second favorite and sure to become yours, too!

7. Varraco Coffee & Roasters

Specializing in premium specialty coffee directly sourced from the Philippines, Varraco is a journey into the rich coffee culture of the islands, roasted to order for a fresh, unforgettable experience.

Varraco Coffee brings the bold spirit of the wild boar, or “barako” from the Philippines, to every cup of coffee served.

The Ube matcha latte is a must-try, with its vibrant purple color and delicious taste. And for those looking for a savory treat, the corn cheese empanada or the ham and cheese ensaymada are perfect companions to a cup of joe.

The Vibe: Varraco Coffee + Roasters is a unique blend of tradition and innovation, offering a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that’s as inviting as the flavors they serve.

Gre Coffee House & Art Gallery is a hidden gem nestled in a quaint alley off Palm Canyon.

As you approach this charming coffee shop, you’re greeted by an intriguing display of records lining the windows. Though it’s a small coffee shop, Gré is bursting with character and, yes, a whole lot of records!

If you’re a music enthusiast, you’ll find yourself in paradise, browsing through an extensive collection that’s also up for grabs.

True to its name, Gré doubles as an art gallery, showcasing works by local artists that you can admire and even take home.

The Vibe: Gré is a place where you can lose track of time, whether you’re sipping on a carefully crafted latte or getting lost in the grooves of a vintage record.

9. RM Coffee

RM Coffee is a haven for coffee lovers nestled in Rancho Mirage. With both indoor and outdoor seating, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a wide selection of pastries and croissants alongside your coffee. 

The owner, Philippe, adds to the charm with his warm and welcoming demeanor, making every visit feel like you’re being welcomed into a friend’s home.

Be sure to plan your visit accordingly, as RM Coffee is a hidden gem that’s open Wednesday through Sunday from 6:30 am until 1:30 pm, and closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

And for those looking to stay connected, free wifi is available, making it an ideal spot for both leisurely brunches and productive mornings.

Everbloom Coffee has blossomed from its humble beginnings as a coffee cart into a full-fledged coffee shop that’s all about serving up great coffee “for the people.” 

This spot is a testament to the power of growth and community, offering not just exceptional coffee drinks, but also homemade syrups.

Everbloom batch drinks to go. Whether it’s matcha, chai, latte, or cold brew, you can grab a half-gallon for $28, serving up to 6 people.

Located in Indio, a bit of a trek from Palm Springs but well within the bounds of the Coachella Valley.

Among the must-tries are their butterscotch and honey lavender lattes, both featuring Everbloom’s signature homemade syrups. 

The Vibe: The shop’s minimalistic and modern atmosphere is really nice. Clean, modern, and welcoming.

11. Ristretto

This coffee haven occupies a space once known as the Alan Ladd Building, a nod to the iconic actor best known for his roles in 1940s and 1950s westerns. Now known as The Five Hundred Building, it was designed by local architect Hugh Kaptur.

The building itself is a piece of Palm Springs’ architectural legacy, making Ristretto a must-visit for both coffee aficionados and history buffs.

Ristretto’s menu is as extensive as its history is rich. From a wide array of espressos and ice blended coffees to teas, Italian sodas, and smoothies, there’s something for every taste.
