Waikiki Beach is 2 miles long, which makes it the perfect distance to spend a few hours soaking up the sun. It’s also so fun to watch surfers catch waves out in the ocean!
Insider tip: If you’re looking for a less-crowded section of Waikiki Beach, head to Fort DeRussy Beach Park. There, you’ll find a nice park with palm trees and picnic tables.
6. Sunset Sail
I can’t think of anything MORE romantic than taking a sunset sail along Oahu’s coast. Watching the sun descend into the water is nothing short of spectacular. In my opinion, this is THE most romantic thing to do in Oahu for couples.
If you’re looking to propose, this is IT! I recommend booking a small group sailboat tour for an intimate experience.

For a dining experience that combines exquisite flavors with stunning views, Haleiwa Joe’s at Haiku Gardens is a must-visit for couples in Oahu.
This popular spot doesn’t accept reservations, so my tip? Arrive early to snag a good seat, especially if you’re dining in the winter.
Aim for around 4:30 or 5 PM to catch the enchanting glow of the setting sun, which only adds to the already gorgeous surroundings.
The menu at Haleiwa Joe’s is a delightful showcase of local cuisine. On my visit, I indulged in the special – a mahi-mahi dish that was nothing short of culinary perfection.
If you’re looking for a restaurant over in Waikiki, I suggest Mahina & Sun’s. Located on the main floor of The Surfjack Hotel, Mahina & Sun’s will take you on a culinary journey inspired by Hawaii’s people and places.
During our stay at The Surfjack, we stopped by the bar at Mahina & Sun’s for a drink. Definitely try either the Hanalei Moon or the old-fashioned – which has a coconut water ice cube in it – a delicious spin on a classic)!
