During my recent visit, I tried their exquisite picanha and bulgogi skewers, which were absolutely delightful.
And let me tell you about their pao de quijo waffle, a cheesy waffle that is an absolute must-try – it’s just waiting to be the next TikTok craze, mark my words.


Tony Park, a Korean-Brazilian from Sao Paulo, and his wife, Joyce Kim, opened Valeu Espetos in 2021 with the goal of bringing their love of Brazilian skewers to LA.
They add Korean flavors as a nod to their heritage, creating a unique gem unlike anything else I’ve had in the city.

A local favorite in Highland Park, serving up some of the best tacos in town. With homemade tortillas and a variety of mouth-watering fillings like carne asada, chorizo, and papas a la plancha (potatoes), every bite is bursting with authentic Mexican flavors.
My favorite part is the blue corn tortillas. It’s also a fairly affordable option for those craving some delicious street-style food.
No extra charge for guac is a win-win in my book!

And don’t forget to try the signature honey wine for a truly authentic experience.

This charming spot offers an incredible range of delectable dishes, such as their Dan Dan Noodles, which are a true masterpiece of flavor with each slurp, and the Three Cup Chicken, a traditional Taiwanese dish that will delight your palate with its perfect balance of soy sauce, sesame oil, and rice wine.

Originally “The Capri,” the establishment has a rich history, starting as a red-sauce Italian restaurant in 1963. After a major renovation, it has been brought back to life by Robert Fleming. If you feel like whisking off to Italy for the night, head to Capri Club!

This hip eatery offers a variety of gourmet sausages (including vegetarian options) served on freshly baked rolls with your choice of toppings. I always go for the “hot Italian,” which is soo tasty! You can also get the “Hungarian heat,” another popular option.
Don’t forget to pair it with one of their many craft beers on tap. Just be prepared for a long wait!

Looking for a quick and delicious meal? Rice & Nori in Koreatown has you covered. This casual spot specializes in onigiri, which are triangular Japanese rice balls wrapped in seaweed. Everything is made fresh to order and the flavors are always on point. My boyfriend LOVES this place, so we get takeout from here a lot.

My personal favorite is the shakshuka for brunch—soo rich and full of flavor. And if you’re a coffee lover, their cappuccino is simply out of this world! It’s a busy place, but I promise you, it’s worth the wait!

Their xiao long bao (soup dumplings) are a must-try, but don’t overlook their other dishes like the spicy wontons, egg fried rice, and green beans.

Their famous Milanesa sandwich is a must-try, stuffed with breaded steak, ham, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. Grab a few alfajores for dessert – buttery cookies filled with dulce de leche and dusted with powdered sugar. My all-time favorite!

Rosty’s Peruvian Cuisine, located in the heart of Highland Park, is a hidden gem that offers a taste of Peru right in California. With its warm and inviting atmosphere, this family-owned restaurant serves up authentic Peruvian dishes bursting with flavor.
Their Lomo Saltado is a must-try, featuring tender strips of beef stir-fried with onions, tomatoes, and french fries, all served over a bed of rice. Make sure to also try their ceviche – fresh seafood marinated in citrus juices and spices. Trust me, I’ve come here several times over the past few years, and I’ve never been disappointed!

The menu showcases a creative blend of traditional dishes from both cultures, delivering a unique and memorable dining experience. Amiga Amore is a true hidden gem, celebrating a diversity of flavors and an exciting MexItalian combination.

I highly recommend their spicy Szechuan broth – it packs a punch!

Don’t miss out on their refreshing homemade lemonade. You can even order takeout and walk down to the beach with your meal.

For a taste of Georgia (the country, not the state), head to Khinkali House in Glendale. This cozy eatery specializes in khinkali, traditional Georgian dumplings filled with meat, cheese, or vegetables.
